Empowering Volunteer Coaches with CoachGPT

At Kindworks Consulting, we know that great coaching changes lives—but not everyone has years of experience or hours to spare for planning. That’s why we built CoachGPT: a prototype app leveraging the latest in AI/ML technology to make youth soccer coaching more accessible, fair, and fun.

Using the Hugging Face platform with Gradio UI and the OpenAI API, we created a virtual coaching assistant that supports volunteer coaches—no technical skills required. With just a few prompts (and focused debugging and persistence), CoachGPT now provides:

• Custom practice plans based on the team’s age, skill, and goals

• A smart substitution engine to ensure every player gets equal playing time

• Real-time suggestions to make practices more inclusive and effective

CoachGPT demonstrates the real power of AI/ML: it takes massive amounts of knowledge, best practices, and complex scheduling logic, and makes it available instantly, for anyone. The app doesn’t just automate tasks—it levels the playing field for volunteers, letting them focus on what matters most: inspiring young athletes.

This project highlights our ability to quickly understand complex challenges, design user-friendly solutions, and harness cutting-edge AI tools to solve real-world problems.
